Instagram Carousel Ideas for Product-Based Businesses

We all love to hate Instagram but at the end of the day, it’s where your ideal customer is hanging out. At the root of it, it’s still a great platform for sharing and consuming content in an easy-to-digest way. And regardless of your industry, our primary goal should be reaching our ideal clients/customers, so using Instagram in your marketing strategy is a no-brainer.

It’s no secret that Instagram is changing and the algorithm is getting harder and harder to figure out. It’s overwhelming trying to keep up. Plus, it can feel like a colossal waste of time to create content that isn’t getting seen. I know I’ve joked about a boycott, but let’s be real–we’re all addicted. Instead of complaining, let’s make a pact to focus on diversifying our marketing OUTSIDE of Instagram and have more fun with the content we post on it.

If you’re a product-based business looking for fresh, new ideas of what to post on Instagram that isn’t video (sorry Reels!) and isn’t just one static image, look no further.

Instagram Carousel Ideas for Product-Based Businesses

Show Product from Every Angle & In Action

Instagram is a great way to show off your products but with the number of users on the platform doing this same thing, standing out is more important than ever. Step it up a notch by sharing your products from every angle in a carousel to bring the product to life. For the last carousel image, share the item in action! If you sell beauty products, this might mean a quick video of squeezing cleanser onto your palm to show the color and texture of the product.

Behind The Scenes of the Production Process

We are all NOSY. Whether you make your products yourself or have them manufactured by a third party, show some behind-the-scenes of the production process! From brainstorming and designing a product to actually selling it to customers, so much goes into every item you create. Showing a look into how your products are made will give your customers (and potential customers) a better understanding of what they’re purchasing. iPhone footage is 100% socially acceptable for this, BTW.

If you’re working on launching a new product, this is also a great time to tease it! Share your mood board, some sketches, and even a sneak peek detail shot of the product, and you’ll have your customers on edge waiting for whatever you’ve got going on to finally drop.

Compilation of Customer Reviews

It’s totally okay to brag about ourselves sometimes! It can feel awkward at first but you’ve worked hard and showing off what your customers are saying gives other potential customers an idea of what to expect when they make a purchase from you.

Before & After Photos

New branding? Show it off! New packaging? Show. It. Off. Do a quick two-post carousel showing off the glow-up your products received. This not only will promote all the newness you have coming, but is also a fun way to see and get engagement from your audience!

How to Use Your Products

As a product-based business owner, no one knows your products better than you. Whether you create a carousel with static images or video (or both!), teach your audience something about one of your products. This might be how to use it in your skincare routine, how to get it set up, or even a “hack” for getting the most from the product!

If you sell candles, try creating a carousel of making the most of your candles to ensure they have a long lifespan (wick trimming, burn time, etc.).

Show Products in a Collection

Showing off a collection of products can feel overwhelming, especially when it comes to marketing them equally. A carousel post is a great way to promote the collection AND all of the products in it! For the first slide, show an image that has all of the products in it and individual images of each item in the next slides.

This is especially beneficial around the holidays when product-based brands have specialized collections that are great for gifting!

Compilation of People Using Your Product

This one goes along with sharing testimonials of your products! But instead of testimonials, we’re going to be utilizing user-generated content (UGC) to create a carousel post. When sharing these types of images, focus on one specific product in different colors or a round-up of different products to highlight your offerings.

If you’re going to share UGC in a carousel post, don’t forget to ask for permission to share the image and tag their Instagram account in the post!
